It is easier for the Hill Start Assist (HSA) to hold an ICE model at a stop because usually people leave the car in Drive and there is some torque from the engine passing through the automatic transmission that helps "holding" the van from rolling back.

I'm sure I'll get used to it sooner or later but wouldn't mind having it completely disabled since the car still has a mechanical handbrake for when someone inevitably decides to stop 3 inches from my bumper on a steep incline.
